A Tale of Two (Part V)

Taylor announced in the morning that he would be leaving in two days’ time. It was pure hell that morning. She was trying all the best to avoid him. But no matter how she tried she could not help feeling hurt from ignoring him. Taylor was confused with the princess’s behavior as he thought she was just being friendly and now perhaps in an erratic mood as she may be nervous with the arrival of her engagement so near. The princess was torn and had no idea what she was doing. She had feelings for Taylor as far as she knew but at the same time the aspect of a lover scared her. All that morning she was going mad and was about to tear her heart out. She could tell him how she felt about him but what if he told her that he had no feelings for her? She would stab herself. How can she ever face him again if she were to marry his best friend? How can she accept the best friend as her husband when Taylor was the one who gave her a new lease of life? She panicked and was walking off the tiles in the house when a message arrived for her. It was from her father and it was official. There seems to be an old settlement that had to be dealt urgently in the highlands and she was summoned to the task. She was to travel to the highlands to settle deed. The princess read the letter twice. She was to go on a journey. A journey that would buy her time to think clearly. She was also in need of a change and this was a perfect chance. She agreed and informed her mother straight away. The Queen was infuriated at first but then thought it would be a good pilgrimage since the highlands have been known to be a spiritual place. She agreed and the princess was to leave two days after Taylor was to leave.

The day arrived sooner than expected and Taylor said his farewells. The princess had faked a cold and stayed in her room and watched Taylor leave through her window. Taylor looked up and for once their eyes met and somewhat the princess saw some form of sadness in his eyes but she was not sure, she maybe hallucinating. She slowly watched her handsome blacksmith riding off.

She watched until he was but a dot in a distance. She breathed and convinced herself that he was just being nice to her though somewhere in her heart she thought otherwise. It was crazy she had no idea why she was feeling that way. Maybe it was a rebound, maybe it was not. She sighed, well she cannot be pondering too much she had to pack for her journey and there is no time to be wasted. So she spun herself from the window and went in search of her maid.
